Thought of the Week Archives

Week 1

When we, in reverent dedication, give ourselves wholly into the service of the savior we will know the joys of the more abundant life. And as we bask in the sunlight of God's infinite love, we will gladly share with others the immeasurable peace of the Christian life.

If all Christians would obey this, religion would be everywhere honored. If all would separate from the vices and follies, the amusements and gaieties of the world, Christ would be glorified. If all were truly renewed in their minds, they would lose their relish for such things; and seeking only to do the will of God, they would not be slow to find it.
- Albert Barnes

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.  Romans 12:2

If we are ever molded into the image of Christ, made conformable to his death, and prepared for the society of the society of the blessed, it must be while we are in time.

Read that, my friends, and bow your heads. You who have let yourself picture Him as weak, as a man of sorrows, uninspiring, glad to die. Week 27

SOUND FISHY?

I hate to CARP at you, but I hope you give me a HERRING while I exhort you a little about our Bible School. Please use your BIG MOUTH to let everyone know. Donít CLAM up. PERCH on some door step and keep inviting people until they say "yes." If a woman shows the slightest inclination to come, SNAPPER up at once. And work on the men too, because most MINNOW that they should be in Bible class. If those you ask act CRABBY or CATTY and say they have a HADDOCK, just give them a couple of aspirins and tell them to come on. We have plenty of room for everyone. We wonít be packed in like SARDINES. So, stop FLOUNDERING around and ask someone to come to Bible Class. It will be very good for your SOLE.
(P.S. If the above sounds a little FISHY, I did it on PORPOISE.)

"And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men." Mark 1:17
